Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh
This is the only charitable hospital working in the field of eye care in the whole state. The hospital was established in the year 1979. The hospital has 257 beds and provides services to both rich and poor. Many poor and deserving patients are beneficiaries of huge concessions in already nominal investigations charges, operation charges and other allied service charges. BPL (Below Poverty Line) patients are given absolute free services. A dedicated team leads the entire functioning at the hospital level.
The Ophthalmology department is keenly engaged in providing eye care to the whole state and adjoining parts of Assam. At the moment the eye wing at RKM provides routine refractive services, cataract, glaucoma, squint and pediatric ophthalmology services, oculoplasty, neuro ophthalmology, cornea, Uvea, low vision and community ophthalmology services. It undertakes outreach screening camps, surgical camps and school screening camps all over the state.
