Mission Roshni

Blindness and visual impairment among children have long-term effects; particularly inhibiting a child’s ability to participate in and benefit from educational experiences, as 80% of learning is processed through the visual system. Mission Roshni strives to eradicate avoidable blindness among school children in government and government aided schools.

This reduces inequalities and betters adult health, future livelihood and social opportunities. The main visual impairment identified is uncorrected refractive error, which can often be addressed by a pair of child-friendly glasses. This initiative screens eye conditions, enables required treatment through referrals, and raises awareness on the issue among children, parents, teachers and the education system. Mission Roshni has made great strides and enabled eye health interventions to 5,00,000+ children over the years.
