HISTORY

Tulsi Trust, established by Mr. Mithumal Tulsi Chanrai in 1975, works as a non-profit organisation on social initiatives in health, education, poverty alleviation and more. His son, Mr. Jagdish M. Chanrai, along with fellow businessmen and associates, came together to form Mission for Vision (MFV) from this parent entity because of the incredible potential to eradicate poverty through enhanced sight laid out in front of them which encouraged them to act.

Blindness is largely a consequence of poverty and people with visual impairment are more likely to become economically challenged if eye care is inaccessible. The certainty that eradicating avoidable blindness enhances productivity and leads to social and economic equality powered MFV to provide the underprivileged communities with access to the right treatment at the right time.

Mission for Vision has acted as a catalyst by strengthening several institutions towards excellence through equitable services.

Elizabeth Kurian

CEO

Elizabeth comes with over 27 years of experience in the corporate and development sectors across organisations. She has worked at MS University of Baroda, Nielsen India and Sightsavers, where she was Chief Executive for India and then Director of Global Advocacy. She has led strategic planning in large programmes with complex, diverse organisational and operating environments. Leading highly skilled multi-function teams in Asia and Africa, she has pioneered and fostered significant growth and transformation through social policy change and innovations. Through her role in various boards and advisory panels, Elizabeth has influenced policy and practice at several national and international settings and has various awards and research publications to her credit. Her key areas of interest include governance, strategic leadership, policy, research, multi-function and cross-cultural people management.

Elizabeth has a Master’s degree in Nutrition (University first rank holder and gold medalist) and has done an Executive Programme in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. She has also completed leadership and management courses from Harvard Business School, the Open University Business School, UK and Roffey Park, UK.
